DRB, a TSG Group Company in the United Kingdom (UK), provided site repair and upgrade to a forecourt of Motor Fuel Group (MFG). The station is located at Childs Way, in Milton Keyes, a city around 80 km from London, and had its fuel sign destroyed by a car crash.
Branding and signage for service stations
MFG is the largest independent forecourt operator in the UK, with over 900 sites. They offer a dual fuel strategy, valeting, convenience stores and ‘food-to-go’, and are increasingly investing in ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging infrastructure, enabling the UK’s transition to cleaner mobility.
At MFG’s forecourt at Childs Way, a car collision caused considerable damage to the site’s Main Identification Display (MID) sign, crushing it completely and leaving no option of a viable repair. The accident debris also obstructed the outer lane and compromised the signage of MFG’s partners which operate from the site – the bakery Greggs and the convenience store Londis.
At first, MFG called DRB to remove the damage from the crash site and provide a temporary repair to the sign. This would be used until a robust and permanent solution was installed, causing minimal disruption to the forecourt.
Signage solutions for forecourts
Once the site was clear and safe, the DRB team evaluated the damage and prepared a plan to restore the area.
The first stage was to conduct a site survey and create a comprehensive risk assessment, so they could proceed with cordoning the area, installing relevant health and safety signage and safeguarding the site. Following this, the team carefully removed the damaged MID, and laid a new concrete foundation that allowed for a replacement MID sign installation.
Since this part of the work was successfully done, MFG asked DRB to continue the site repair with a second project. In this new step, they would provide a complete refurbishment and upgrade of the site. DRB provides both sign manufacture and installation, so it was able to fully support MFG in a brand-new look to the forecourt.
