The future is electric
The UK government will prohibit the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in 2030, with hybrid models to follow suit in 2035. As a consequence, it is anticipated that drivers in the market for a new car are now more likely to consider an all-electric vehicle (EV) in preference to its fossil fuel counterparts.
By the end of this decade, it is expected that seven out of ten cars on UK roads will be electric and as such, in order to keep pace with demand, there is a necessity for substantial growth in the associated charge infrastructure. To support this growth, many businesses are contemplating installing EV chargers for their employees to utilise during the working day, thus easing the pressure on public charge facilities.
Not only is this a good move in respect of providing additional charge points, but it is also an excellent means of encouraging staff to switch to electric vehicles. Furthermore, businesses running company EVs will benefit from convenient, efficient on-site charging at an affordable price.
